Forbes just released its Forbes Richest List 2024, which now includes 2,781 individuals, up by 141 from last year. These billionaires have collectively increased their net worth by $2 billion, reaching a total of $14.2 trillion. The US has the highest number of billionaires with 813, followed by China with 473. India saw an increase of 31 billionaires compared to last year, bringing the total to 200.
In India, Mukesh Ambani, the chairperson of Reliance Industries tops Forbes Richest List 2024 India. Gautam Adani follows as the second richest Indian, with his wealth increasing by $36.8 billion to reach $84 billion. Savitri Jindal maintains her position as the richest Indian woman on the list.
Highlights of Forbes Richest List 2024
In the 2024 Forbes Billionaires List, 200 Indians are featured, up from 169 last year, collectively amassing a record $954 billion, a 41% increase from $675 billion. Mukesh Ambani leads as the first Asian to hit $100 billion, retaining his ninth position globally, followed by Gautam Adani at $84 billion, ranking 17th worldwide. Savitri Jindal remains India’s wealthiest woman with a net worth of $33.5 billion, climbing to the fourth position in India from sixth last year. Notably, 25 new Indian billionaires, including Naresh Trehan, Ramesh Kunhikannan, and Renuka Jagtiani, debuted on the list. However, Byju Raveendran and Rohiqa Mistry didn’t make the cut this time.
