On Wednesday, Adani Green Energy announced the operationalization of a 180-MW solar power plant at Devikot in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The plant, boasting a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), signifies a significant milestone for Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL), India’s largest renewable energy company, as stated in their official statement.

AGEL Expands Solar Portfolio, Achieves Milestone

With the successful commissioning of this plant, AGEL has increased its operational solar portfolio to 6,243 MW. Its total operational renewable generation capacity has reached 9,784 MW, making it the largest in India, as added in the statement. The 180-MW solar plant in Rajasthan will annually produce approximately 540 million electricity units. It will power over 1.1 lakh homes and reduce around 0.39 million tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Next-generation bifacial solar PV modules and horizontal single-axis solar trackers (HSAT) have been deployed to maximize generation through better efficient modules and track the sun throughout the day.

Additionally, the plant is equipped with waterless robotic module cleaning systems, enabling water conservation in the barren region of Jaisalmer. The Energy Network Operation Centre (ENOC), anchored in the secured digital cloud platform, enables real-time monitoring of AGEL’s renewable energy assets, enhancing operational performance.

Advancing Solar Technology and Operational Efficiency

Promoting advanced technologies for enhanced performance, the solar plant at Devikot, Rajasthan, employs next-generation bifacial solar PV modules. It also has horizontal single-axis solar trackers (HSAT). These will help in maximizing generation by optimizing module efficiency and sun-tracking capabilities. The Energy Network Operation Centre (ENOC), hosted on a secure digital cloud platform, facilitates real-time monitoring of AGEL’s renewable energy assets, ensuring enhanced operational performance.

The waterless robotic module cleaning systems are in place to conserve water in the arid region of Jaisalmer.
