Kalki 2898 AD: An Epic Science Fiction
“Kalki 2898 AD” Directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by C. Aswani Dutt of Vyjayanthi Movies. The film was primarily shot in Telugu, with some scenes reshot in Hindi, making it a production from Tollywood. Inspired by Hindu legends, the story is set in a post-apocalyptic world in 2898 AD. Originally scheduled to release on 9 May 2024, the film was postponed due to the ongoing 2024 Indian General Election. It is now set to be released worldwide on 27 June 2024 in theaters.
First announced in February 2020, “Kalki” faced a year’s delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Filming finally began in July 2021 at a futuristic set at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad, and continued sporadically over the next three years before wrapping in March 2024. Made on a production budget of ₹600 crore (US$75 million), “Kalki” is the most expensive Indian film ever.
