This isn’t the first time the Baahubali saga has been animated; previously, Rajamouli introduced Baahubali: The Lost Legends in 2017 on Amazon Prime Video. It’s unclear how involved Rajamouli will be with Baahubali: Crown of Blood.
Records Named after Baahubali
In 2017, director SS Rajamouli launched a four-season animated series called Baahubali: The Lost Legends, which aired on Amazon Prime Video. The Baahubali films made waves in India and internationally, including in Japan, China, and Europe. The second installment, Baahubali 2, directed by Rajamouli, raked in a whopping Rs. 1810 crores, making it the second highest-grossing film in Indian cinema history. It dominated domestic and global box offices, setting new benchmarks in the industry.
The ensemble cast, featuring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj, and Nassar, contributed to the films’ success. Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) introduced the adventurous Sivudu, while Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) answered the cliffhanger question, ‘Why Kattappa killed Baahubali?’ The films, released in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi, collectively grossed over Rs. 1,000 crore worldwide.
SS Rajamouli’s RRR: A Blockbuster
SS Rajamouli’s latest directorial venture, RRR, made waves not just in India but worldwide. Starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, the film gained immense popularity. Its song “Naatu Naatu” even won an Oscar Award for Best Song in 2023.
