The Startup Mahakumbh, happening from March 18-20, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam and Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, marks a unique event in terms of vision and scale. India has experienced remarkable growth in startups, boasting the third-largest startup ecosystem globally. As of October 2023, there are 1,12,718 DPIIT-recognized startups across 763 districts, including 111 Unicorns valued at $349.67 billion.

Over 1000 high-potential startups from India and worldwide, along with unicorn startups, global and domestic venture capitalists, corporates, and industry leaders, are expected to participate, making it a transformative journey.

India’s First “Start-Up MahaKumbh” Set to Unite Innovation

To solidify India’s innovative prowess, ASSOCHAM, NASSCOM, Bootstrap Incubation & Advisory Foundation, TiE, and Indian Venture Alternate Capital Association (IVCA) have collaboratively organized the country’s inaugural “Start-Up MahaKumbh.” The three-day celebration, occurring from March 18th to 20th, highlights the remarkable legacy of Indian startups.

In anticipation of this monumental event, a curtain raiser occurred on February 27th at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi. Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution & Textile, Shri Sanjiv, Joint Secretary, DPIIT, and Shri Prashant Kumar Singh, CEO of Government e-Marketplace, graced the occasion.

Expecting participation from over 1000 high-potential startups globally, alongside unicorn startups, venture capitalists, corporates, and industry leaders, the event signifies India’s emergence as a global innovation hub. Thoughtfully orchestrated by ASSOCHAM, NASSCOM, Bootstrap Incubation & Advisory Foundation, TiE, and IVCA, Startup Mahakumbh is poised to redefine India’s entrepreneurial landscape.

Union Minister Emphasizes Opportunities at Startup Mahakumbh

During his keynote address, the Union Minister highlighted the significance of Startup Mahakumbh, emphasizing the three-day opportunity for startups to engage with investors and stakeholders, fostering a supportive ecosystem for idea exchange and learning from others’ experiences. He also stressed the importance of involving students to instil entrepreneurship and curiosity, empowering them to contribute to India’s narrative of progress.

Concluding his speech, Goyal underscored the unfolding narrative of India’s greatness, entrusting the youth to carry forward the story of a developing India into a prosperous future.

Startup MahaKumbh promises to showcase unparalleled innovation and facilitate connections between startups and investors, aiming to bring transformative products, cutting-edge technologies, and revolutionary business models to the global stage. The event expects participation from over 1000 startups, ten thematic tracks, 1000 investors, 500 incubators & accelerators, 50 conference delegates, 10 country delegations, 5000 future entrepreneurs, and 40,000 business visitors over three days.

Bharat Mobility Show and ACMA Automechanika New Delhi

During the Bharat Mobility Show, Goyal stated that more than 1,000 exhibitors and “over 100 startups were present,” with PM Narendra Modi personally meeting 10 of them on Day 2. Simultaneously, the 5th edition of ACMA Automechanika New Delhi featured over 500 exhibitors from India and 12 other countries.

The Minister announced that the Bharat Mobility Show would become an annual event. Previously, the flagship motor show, Auto Expo, organized by SIAM at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, and the Auto Components Show by ACMA at Pragati Maidan, were biennial events, with the last edition held in January 2023.
