According to reports, JTBC is preparing for a fresh variety show, assembling notable figures from Korean entertainment.

According to South Korean media sources, the new JTBC venture promises a stellar lineup, with Ji Chang Wook, Park Bo Gum, and others already slated to participate. Meanwhile, Jennie, the K-pop idol and Blackpink member who currently stars in “Apartment 404,” is also in negotiations to join the cast of My Name is Gabriel.

JTBC is set to launch a fresh variety show titled “My Name is Gabriel.” The Fact reported on March 11 that JTBC is gearing up for this new venture. An official confirmed the involvement of several actors, including Ji Chang Wook, Yeom Hye Ran, Park Myung Soo, Hong Jin Kyung, and Park Bo Gum. The show, helmed by producing director Kim Tae Ho, will explore a unique premise where the cast lives the lives of others in various countries. This concept is reminiscent of MBC’s “The Lives of Others” on “Infinite Challenge,” previously directed by Kim Tae Ho as well.

Jennie in Talks to Join Ji Chang Wook and Park Bo Gum in New Show

Blackpink star Jennie, currently busy with ‘Apartment 404’, is reportedly in discussions with the makers of ‘My Name is Gabriel’. JTBC staff disclosed to media outlets that, although not officially confirmed, the BLACKPINK member is in talks to join the cast. The shoot is expected to begin in early March, with a likely premiere in June. The variety show will feature the cast living the lives of other people.

Current Projects of Blackpink’s Jennie

All four members of BLACKPINK renewed their contract with YG Entertainment for group activities, but they pursued solo activities independently. Jennie embarked on her solo journey and established her agency OA (ODD ATELEIR).

In February 2024, she returned to variety shows with ‘Apartment 404’, featuring Alchemy of Soul’s Oh Na Ra, Running Man’s Yang Se Chan, Moving’s Cha Tae Hyun, Leung Ha, and others. Despite the initial buzz, the show, which also stars K-pop idol Jennie, is struggling with ratings declining. Nielsen Korea reported that the latest episode on March 8 had a low rating of 1.7%, following the second episode, which garnered only 2.1%.

Ji Chang Wook’s Work Front

Directed by Park Noo-ri, acclaimed for his work on the film ‘Money’, the series promises a compelling story filled with suspense and action. This drama will also mark the reunion of Ji Chang-wook and Jo Woo-jin, who previously co-starred in the intense drama ‘Hard Hit’.

Slated for release in late 2024, ‘Gangnam B-Side’ features Ji Chang-Wook as Yoon Gil-ho, a covert broker with solid control over Gangnam’s underworld. Living on the outskirts of society, he manoeuvres through the city’s dark side to secure his survival.

Park Bo Gum’s Kdrama Lineup

Announced on January 11, the dynamic duo will lead the cast in this exciting show. ‘Good Boy’ is an action-packed comedy that tells the story of a group of talented athletes who, facing financial difficulties, short-lived sports careers, injuries, and other challenges, decide to become special police officers. Park Bo Gum takes on the role of Yoon Dong Joo, a former Olympic gold medalist boxer who joins the Special Violent Crime Unit through a special employment program for Olympic athletes. With a natural talent for fighting, Yoon Dong Joo becomes an Olympic hero.
