As viewers bid farewell to the first part of The Crown’s sixth season, the newly released teaser gives a sneak peek into the upcoming second part set to premiere on December 14. Get ready for a glimpse of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s courtship in the eagerly awaited finale.

Exploring the personal and professional lives of the British royal family, The Crown reveals their stories with detailed insight. The series gives us a close look at the inner and outer aspects of their lives.

Since its debut in 2016, The Crown has delved into significant moments, showcasing Queen Elizabeth’s journey to the throne, the marriage and subsequent divorce of Prince Charles and Diana (Princess of Wales), and the interplay between the monarchy and UK prime ministers. Transitioning through time, the series unfolds these compelling narratives with depth and detail.

Offering a backstage peek at these pivotal moments has delighted fans, yet it is time to bid farewell to the series. Season 6 marks its conclusion, bringing an end to this captivating journey.

A return to original plans for a deeper historical dive

Originally planned to conclude with season 6, The Crown saw a change in course with the announcement that the series would end with Season 5 instead.

Despite initial plans, Peter Morgan, the series creator and writer, had a change of heart. As reported by Deadline, he expressed,

“As we started to discuss the storylines for Series 5, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story, we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons.”

Notably, season 6 won’t bring us closer to the present day; its purpose is to delve deeper into the same period, providing a more detailed exploration.

The Crown season 6, volume 2

The second part of The Crown Season 6 will premiere on December 14, with all episodes releasing simultaneously.

In its sixth season, The Crown unfolds the years 1997 to 2000. Anticipate witnessing Tony Blair’s ascent, the heartbreaking loss of Diana, Princess of Wales, and the beginning of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s relationship.

Unlike earlier seasons, Season 6 marks the first split into two parts. While Volume One premiered on November 16, the arrival of Volume Two is still on the horizon. Here’s what we know about The Crown Season 6, Volume 2.

In Season 6, Volume 2 of The Crown, the narrative is anticipated to resume after the events covered in Volume 1, which concentrated on Princess Diana and her tragic death.

Volume 2 is expected to cover the deaths of Princess Margaret and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, along with the emergence of Kate Middleton.

Additionally, it will delve into the relationship between Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, leading to their eventual marriage.

Casts and characters of The Crown

In The Crown Season 6, Part 2, the cast includes Elizabeth Debicki as Diana (Princess of Wales), Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Dominic West as Prince Charles, Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker Bowles, Khalid Abdalla as Dodi Fayed, Salim Daw as Mohamed Al-Fayed, and Bertie Carvel as Tony Blair.

In Season 6, Part 2 of The Crown, Rufus Kampa takes on the role of young Prince William, and Ed McVey portrays William during his university days and courtship with Kate Middleton. Fflyn Edwards plays the young Prince Harry, while Luther Ford embodies him during his teenage years. Additionally, Meg Bellamy joins the cast as Kate Middleton.

The decision to split the season into two parts is likely influenced by two factors. Netflix has previously adopted a two-part format with shows like Stranger Things Season 4, enhancing conversation and anticipation. This approach generates more buzz as Netflix maintains its binge-release model, unlike platforms such as Disney+ that follow a weekly episode release format.
