YouTube Music is getting a new ‘hum to search’ feature that makes it easier to find songs. Now, instead of typing or speaking the song’s name, you can simply hum, sing, or even play a part of the tune on another device.
Some users already have access to this feature, but not everyone. It’s available on both the Android and iOS versions of the app. Look for the special button, give it a try, and let the app do the rest!
YouTube Music’s New Hum to Search Feature
According to a report from 9 to 5 Google, YouTube Music is introducing a new feature that lets users hum, sing, or whistle a tune to find songs. Soon, the app will have two tabs for song search, making it easier to locate music without remembering the title. To use this feature, open the YouTube Music app on your Android device and tap the search bar or look for the “hum to search” button. This button will likely be next to the microphone button used for voice searches. Once you tap the dedicated button, hum, sing, or whistle the melody for about 10 to 15 seconds. YouTube Music will then use its advanced AI technology to analyze the audio and provide a list of potential matches based on the closest musical fingerprint.
Song Search Coming to YouTube Music App
YouTube Music’s new ‘hum to search’ feature is gradually rolling out to the iOS app and will soon be available to all iPhone users.
For Android users, there’s a workaround. You can use a similar feature in the YouTube app.
Tap the Voice Search option and toggle between Voice and Song Search at the top of the screen. It’s that simple! You’re in for a treat if you’ve noticed a new ‘Song’ icon next to the ‘Voice’ search button in your YouTube Music app! This awesome addition lets you search for songs by singing, humming, or playing them on another device.
The ‘Voice’ search is there for your usual speech-to-text searches, while the new ‘hum to search’ button lets you find songs in a whole new way. Just sing, hum, or play a part of the song into the microphone, and YouTube Music will do the rest. It’s like having Shazam built right into your music app. No more jumping between apps to find that catchy tune. With this new feature, everything you need is right in the YouTube Music app. It’s simpler, smoother, and makes discovering music a breeze.
Easy Ways to Find Songs with Google on Android Devices
Google offers multiple options for Android users to discover songs effortlessly. You can use Google Voice search to find a song by humming or singing or simply ask Google Assistant to identify a song by playing, singing, or humming it. For Pixel phone owners, the handy Now Playing feature automatically detects and displays the song playing nearby on the lock screen.
Moreover, Google is set to enhance the podcast listening experience on YouTube Music with a new “Trim Silence” feature, similar to what’s available on Google Podcasts. This feature detects podcast pauses and skips over them, making for a smoother listening experience. Keep an eye out for these convenient features coming soon to your favorite music and podcast apps!
