The Mystery thriller K-drama “Signal” is coming back for another season, much to the delight of fans. The writer, Kim Eun-hee, and Jang Won-Seok, the CEO of BA Entertainment, shared the exciting news during a lecture at La Sapienza University in Rome, Italy.

The announcement of Signal Season 2 has thrilled K-Drama enthusiasts, who can’t wait for new mysteries and thrills on their screens. Kim Eun-hee, renowned for her work on dramas like “Revenant,” is teaming up with BA Entertainment once again for “Signal 2.”

The sequel to the popular K-drama “Signal” has been given the green light, much to the excitement of fans. On March 13th, scriptwriter Kim Eun Hee confirmed that Signal season 2 is in the works.

During an event at La Sapienza University in Rome, Kim Eun Hee and B.A. Entertainment CEO Jang Won Seok announced their collaboration on the new season. They previously worked together on the SBS drama “Revenant” in 2023.

B.A. Entertainment is teaming up once again with the production company for Signal Season 2, although a release date hasn’t been set yet. Kim Eun Hee has expressed her desire to explore new stories in the second season.

While there have been rumours about season 2 for months, details about the plot and release date are still under wraps. However, Kim Eun Hee is determined to make it happen, and there’s speculation about the return of main actors like Cho Jin-Woong, Kim Hye-soo, and Lee Je-hoon.

“Signal” first aired on tvN in 2016, capturing audiences with its tale of detectives receiving mysterious messages from the past to solve crimes. Starring Lee Je Hoon, Kim Hye Soo, and Jo Jin Woong, the show became one of cable TV’s highest-rated K-Dramas, praised for its gripping plot and talented cast. The TV show “Signal,” inspired by the 2000 film “Frequency” and real crimes like the Hwaseong serial murders, aired on tvN from January 22 to March 12, 2016. It had 16 episodes, airing on Fridays and Saturdays at 20:30 KST.

The series follows detectives using a supernatural radio to crack cold cases, drawing inspiration from a real-life case in Korea. Its captivating storyline and stellar performances led to widespread acclaim, making it a favourite among viewers in South Korea and beyond.

As the show gained popularity, speculations about a second season grew, especially after its intriguing finale. Awarded Best Drama at the 52nd Baeksang Arts Awards, “Signal” was celebrated for its exceptional storytelling and remarkable acting. Now, the confirmation of a second season is like the icing on the cake for fans eagerly awaiting more mysteries to unravel.

The series received praise from both viewers and critics for its captivating story and great acting. It became one of the most-watched Korean dramas on cable TV, reaching a peak audience of 12.544%.
