On March 6, Disney+ Hotstar released the trailer for its new series, Lootere. Directed by Jai Mehta and led by Hansal Mehta, the show will begin streaming on March 22, 2024.
Featuring a talented cast that includes Rajat Kapoor, Vivek Gomber, Amruta Khanvilkar, and Aamir Ali, Lootere promises an exciting ensemble.
The trailer, running for two minutes and 11 seconds, plunges viewers into chaos right from the beginning. It starts with a pirate attack on a Ukrainian ship, where the pirates swiftly take control and hold the crew captive.
Trailer of ‘Lootere’ Released
A kidnapping and ransom incident unfolds on board an Indian cargo ship. Rajat Kapoor leads the cast of the Disney+ Hotstar drama, premiering on March 22. The cast also includes Vivek Gomber, Amruta Khanvilkar, and Aamir Ali.
Directed by Jai Mehta, known for his work on the Pratik Gandhi starrer ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’, ‘Lootere’ raises the question: Will the Indian crew members manage to find a way out, or will the pirates succeed in their mission? Disney+ Hotstar has teased what’s to come in the show with the release of its first trailer.

The survival drama ‘Lootere’ is also produced by its creator, Shaailesh R Singh. Showrunner Hansal Mehta remarked,
“We’ve seen several airborne hijack stories, but Lootere stands out for its setting in the sea and its expansive canvas – a vast ocean, an alien country, an intimidating vessel, and a band of menacing pirates. With this show, our attempt is to bring a story of power and greed spiralling into an international hijacking crisis and the attempts of the crew to escape it. The story is bound to tap the audience on an emotional as well as a thrilling adventure.”
Rajat Kapoor on Working in ‘Lootere’
Rajat Kapoor shared,
“Working on ‘Lootere’ was quite a journey, both physically and emotionally. Playing the role of the ship’s captain was an adventure and a joy, especially since I’ve never been on a ship before. The crew members became like family to me during our time in South Africa for a few months. We faced long and challenging days at sea, on a ship that was both vast and cramped. ‘Lootere’ brought together different experiences, and everything fell into place, thanks to our director, Jai Mehta.”
Lootere: An International Hijacking Crisis
As tensions rise, the president of a port authority gets involved, revealing his secret plan to use the pirate attack for his own benefit. The ship is heading towards his port. The big question is: Will the crew manage to escape, or will the pirates take control?
Hansal Mehta, the show’s creator, mentioned that while there have been many stories about hijackings in the air, ‘Lootere’ stands out because it takes place at sea. The show has a huge scope, with a vast ocean, a foreign country, a daunting ship, and a group of menacing pirates. The show’s goal is to tell a gripping tale of power and greed that leads to an international hijacking crisis, with the crew fighting to break free.
