The maiden production venture, ‘Girls will be Girls,’ by Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal, is poised for its grand premiere at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival 2024. Chosen as one of the exclusive 16 films in the ‘World Dramatic Feature category,’ the debutant producers’ film is set to participate in the esteemed festival. In anticipation of the global premiere, a conversation was held by Richa Chadha, Ali Fazal, and the director Shuchi Talati, expressing their delight over the significant achievement. Fazal, a prominent part of the film, referred to it as a ‘celebration of storytelling,’ expressing the hope that the film will leave an indelible mark on the hearts of the audience.

Actress Richa Chadha expressed her excitement about their film making it to Sundance, affirming that it validates their commitment to compelling storytelling. She said,
“We couldn’t be more thrilled. The journey has been about pushing boundaries and redefining the narratives. I am so elated that the world will see Shuchi’s fresh voice and cinematic perspectives along with some amazing performances from our actors.”

“It is heartening to see your film shot and conceptualized in India make it to this mammoth international festival. This coming-of-age drama is a love story between a mother and a daughter. Even though it is very rooted in Indian ethos, I am glad it resonates with people across many continents,”

‘Girls Will Be Girls,’ a film backed by Richa and Ali’s production venture Pushing Buttons Studios, unfolds the narrative of a 16-year-old girl named Mira in a small Himalayan hill town in North India. Set in a boarding school, the film has already earned international acclaim and received grants such as the Cinema Du Monde, the Arte Kino Prize, and the VFF Talent Highlight Award.
