According to industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Dunki’ marked a solid opening, yet it stands as Shah Rukh’s lowest debut in 2023, following the impressive starts of his earlier releases – ‘Pathaan’ with Rs 57 crore and ‘Jawan’ with a staggering Rs 89.5 crore on their respective first days.

Sumit Kadel, a film trade analyst, shared Dunki’s day 1 update on X (formerly Twitter), noting that the collection is expected to rise over the weekend due to positive word of mouth.

He wrote this while billing Dunki as a comedy-drama film based on an illegal immigration technique named ‘donkey flight,’ depicting a saga of friendships, borders, nostalgia for home, and love.

He stated,

“When I made Jawan, I thought I made a film for boys and girls but I didn’t make anything for myself, then I made Dunki. So this is my film. This film is very close to my heart.”

Shah Rukh Khan, who began the year with ‘Pathaan,’ emphasizing “ladies first,” conveyed his desire to conclude the year with a film for himself, urging everyone to watch Dunki on December 21. As per ANI, he assured,

“Everyone will find something in the film that will touch their heart. The film will make you laugh also,”
