The famous fashion designer of the Indian fashion industry Rohit Bal, has fallen sick and is undergoing treatment at the Medanta Hospital, in NCR. He is suffering from heart disease and his condition is serious right now. He is in an ICU and on ventilator support.

The Medanta hospital has revealed that Rohit Bal was admitted to their hospital on 23rd November. He had complained of severe chest pain. He had become unconscious and was taken to the Moolchand hospital first. When his condition became worse, Suraj Dhalia, who is a model, took Bal to Medanta.

Medanta Diagnoses Rohit Bal of Having Heart Disease

Medanta Hospital conducted medical diagnosis and performed some tests. The tests confirmed that he was suffering from a heart condition called dilated cardiomyopathy. Also, he was suffering from uncontrolled diabetes. The doctors diagnosed him with acute kidney failure. Dr Praveen Chandra is looking after Rohit in the Medanta hospital.

Rohit Bal is 62 years old and was under rehabilitation for addiction addiction. Rohit had taken treatment at the Medanta Hospital in November 2022 for consuming too much alcohol. In addition, he had taken sleeping pills. He was in a serious condition at that time. The doctors treated him and removed alcohol and medicines he took for sleeping out from his body. Arjun Rampal, a famous actor, and a friend visited him in the hospital then.

The fashion designer had been admitted to Medanta earlier in 2023. He was suffering from acute pancreatitis at that time.

Rohit Bal’s Education and Career

Rohit Bal was born on 8th May 1961, in Srinagar. He is a Kashmiri Pandit. His friends also know him by the nickname Gudda.

He got a graduation degree from the reputed St Stephen’s College. He received a fashion design education at the prestigious institute NIFT, Delhi. He started his career as a fashion designer in 1986.

He started a company called Orchid Oversea Private Limited. This was a joint venture of Rohit along with his brother. It was in 1990 that his first independent collection came out. He was awarded the ‘Designer of the Year’ award in 2006. Rohit went on to grab the title of ‘Lakme Grand Finale Designer’ in 2012.

The Rajnigandha Pearls India Fashion Award for the “Iconic Fashion Designer of the Country” was given to Rohit in 2020. Recently, he launched ‘Balance’, a men’s garment collection.

He is a patient with heart disease and has endured a heart attack. An emergency procedure of heart surgery angioplasty was performed on him in February 2010.
