Co-founder and CEO of Dukaan, Suumit Shah, tweeted that they replaced 90% of support staff with an AI chatbot. He emphasized the necessity of AI, stating that the time to first response is now “INSTANT!”

Suumit Shah highlighted the successful implementation of AI in streamlining support operations at Dukaan. The startup’s AI chatbot remarkably improved response time and resolution efficiency. The resolution time significantly decreased from 2 hours and 13 minutes to 3 minutes and 12 seconds.

Suumit stated that startups, including Dukaan, prioritize profitability over striving to become unicorns. Fixing customer support was seen as an opportunity by Suumit due to a long-standing struggle.

Significance of Bot9 platform

Suumit mentioned that the platform was conceived during a weekend hackathon, as he told YourStory. Whether the founders will invest significant time, energy, and money in Bot9 is unclear. It has more growth potential compared to other AI tools like Midjourney.

He mentioned that Bot9 is just a basic MVP for now and may not grow rapidly. If Bot9 does show growth, Suumit plans to explore running it as a full-fledged business.

The focus is evaluating Bot9’s potential before committing extensive resources. Suumit’s comments highlight the cautious approach the startup is taking with Bot9’s future development.

AI assistant ‘LINA’

Suumit affirmed his commitment to Dukaan for the next 20 years, with no plans to change. Shah introduced Dukaan’s AI assistant, Lina, a month ago in a Facebook post. Lina can answer both account-specific and general queries about Dukaan’s features and operations.

Concern for the Layoffs

The layoffs occurred just three days after Rajeev Chandrasekhar dismissed concerns about AI taking away jobs in India. Chandrasekhar labelled such concerns as “nonsense” and “bakwas.” Suumit’s long-term dedication to Dukaan aligns with introducing Lina, the AI assistant.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Union Minister, dismissed concerns about AI taking away jobs in India. The minister of state for electronics, information, and technology labelled such comments as “nonsense, bakwas.”

Chandrasekhar stated that generative AI is task-focused and improves efficiency by mimicking human behaviour. He expressed cynicism, recalling previous instances like Y2K where doomsday predictions proved false.

Contrary to worst-case scenario assumptions, Chandrasekhar emphasized that AI will not eliminate jobs. He firmly stated that AI will not finish our jobs, describing such claims as zero, nonsense, and bakwas.

The minister rejected the pessimistic outlook and highlighted the positive aspects of AI technology.

Chandrasekhar unveiled fully automated electromagnetic interference and compatibility laboratories at SAMEER. He stated that the government is collaborating with AI researchers and startups through a data sets program.

The program involves providing curated government anonymized data to Indian AI researchers and startups. The Ministry of Electronics, Information and Technology designed the works for those five data sets.

Chandrasekhar mentioned that the data sets would be offered on a curated basis. He emphasized the government’s involvement in facilitating access to data for AI development.
The unveiling event showcased the government’s commitment to supporting AI research and startups.

Dukaan Collaboration With ONDC

Late last year, Dukaan App collaborated with ONDC to provide equal opportunities for big and small sellers. According to a press statement, sellers using Dukaan-powered stores can now showcase their entire product catalogue on ONDC. The integration with ONDC enables sellers to receive orders through the platform.

The startup’s partnership with ONDC aims to simplify the selling process and create a level playing field. The collaboration empowers its sellers by expanding their reach and visibility on ONDC.

Suumit Shah expressed excitement about partnering with ONDC. According to Shah, the startup has collaborated with sellers who aspire to establish their e-commerce channels. Many of these sellers face challenges in connecting with cost-effective sales channels.

ONDC aims to solve the fundamental problem of demand generation for all merchants. The partnership with ONDC will open new growth opportunities for existing and potential sellers. Dukaan looks forward to leveraging the network provided by ONDC to facilitate seller growth.
