Snapchat is strengthening the leadership team in India by adding new key people, focusing on content, partnerships, augmented reality (AR), growth, and sales. They’ve doubled their team size in India since last year.

Saket Jha Saurabh is joining as the director for content, partnerships, and AR, bringing experience from Meta, Bloomberg, and Fame Digital. Chirag Kohli is also joining to lead growth efforts, focusing on getting more users, keeping them engaged, and expanding revenue. These hires are part of Snap’s plan to strengthen its presence in India, an important market for its growth.

Pulkit Trivedi, Snap Inc’s managing director in India, underscores their unwavering commitment to the Indian market. He emphasizes a dedication to serving the community, adding substantial value for advertisers, creators, and AR developers. Additionally, he highlights Snap’s contribution to India’s digital growth, showcasing a holistic approach to foster innovation and engagement within the country’s digital ecosystem.

He highlights Snapchat’s appeal to Gen Z, driven by authentic engagement with friends and family, which has led to rapid growth in India, presenting a significant investment and growth opportunity.

Snap’s Localized Operating Structure in India

Snap introduced a new localized operating structure in India in August, coinciding with Trivedi’s appointment. Under this structure, Snap’s local teams in India, covering growth, market development, partnerships, content, and the creator ecosystem, report directly to Trivedi. Trivedi, in turn, reports to Ajit Mohan, the Asia Pacific (APAC) president.

Trivedi mentioned in March that Snap had doubled its India team size in the past year and expanded its presence to Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Snap’s focus in India is on creating localized experiences to attract more Gen Z users to its app, aiming to cater to the preferences and needs of the Indian audience.

These appointments come as Snap gradually recovers from challenges faced in the global digital advertising market over the past year.

Snap’s Focus on User Growth in Key Markets

In February, Snap revealed plans to prioritize user growth and enhance engagement, especially in profitable regions like North America and Europe. However, Trivedi mentioned to Moneycontrol that India remained a focus for hiring, as Snap’s global leadership sees significant opportunities in the country.

Snap CEO Evan Spiegel mentioned leveraging insights from their expansion in India to fuel community growth in other regions.

In simpler terms, Snap is concentrating on growing its user base in key markets like North America and Europe while continuing to see potential in India, where it is actively hiring. It’s also using lessons from its Indian operations to drive growth elsewhere.
